Early Life and Career

Born Vincent Anthony Vaughn on March 28, 1970 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Vaughn is the son of a salesman father and real-estate agent mother who was raised in the wealthy Chicago suburb of Lake Forest. As soon as the lackluster student graduated from Lake Forest High School, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

Vaughn spent seven years in Hollywood before he landed the role of smooth-operating Trent in 1996's surprise hit Swingers. The irreverent comedy written by co-star and real-life pal Jon Favreau led to a role in Steven Spielberg's The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Vaughn's other notable films include Return to Paradise, Clay Pigeons and Psycho, in which he played the legendary Norman Bates in director Gus Van Sant's controversial remake. Unfortunately, the much-hyped film turned out to be a disappointment both at the box office and among critics.

In 2000, Vaughn appeared in the thriller The Cell with Jennifer Lopez, Prime Gig and South of Heaven, West of Hell, which marked the directorial debut of country singer Dwight Yoakam. Vaughn also re-teamed with Favreau for Made and appeared as a deceptive stepfather in the thriller Domestic Disturbance. In 2003, the actor joined Saturday Night Live alum Will Ferrell for the hit sophomoric comedy Old School. He hit box office gold again in 2005 in Wedding Crashers with Owen Wilson. The following year, he co-starred with then-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston in The Break-Up (2006). Vaughn also tried his hand at holiday humor with Fred Claus (2007) and Four Christmases (2008). In Couple's Retreat (2009), he and Malin Akerman play a romantic pair trying to improve their relationship. Vaughn also helped write the film's script.

Recent Projects

In 2011, Vaughn teamed up with Kevin James for The Dilemma. He then joined forces with Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade for The Watch the following year. Vaughn sought to recapture the big screen magic of Wedding Crashers by co-starring with Owen Wilson in The Internship (2013), but the film fell short of expectations. That same year, he played a sperm donor who meets the many children he fathered in Delivery Man.

Branching out into more dramatic material, in 2014, Vaughn signed on to star in the second season of True Detective, the critically acclaimed HBO crime drama, with Colin Farrell. He will also appear in the upcoming dramatic film Term Life with Hailee Steinfeld and his longtime friend Jon Favreau.

Personal Life

Vaughn has been married to Kyla Weber since 2010. The couple has two children together.
