Teddy Wilson was one of the most influential pianists of his day, playing with Louis Armstrong, Lena Horne, Benny Goodman, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald.

Teddy Wilson was one of the most influential pianists of his time. He studied music at Tuskegee Institute, a private, historically black university. During the 1930s, he made a number of recordings featuring vocalist Billie Holiday. They are now classics of small-group swing. In 1936s, he joined Benny Goodman's trio. After 1940 he worked primarily as a leader of small ensembles.
