Sonny Boy Williamson was an American blues singer and harmonica player. He performed throughout the South in the 1920s and then moved to Chicago in 1934. He began recording in 1937. He became widely known and loved for his "jump" tempos and slight speech impediment, both of which have been imitated. At the height of his fame, Williamson was robbed and murdered while walking home from a blues bar.
