Actress. Born on March 10, 1957, in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. Known for years as a Playboy playmate and actress, Shannon Tweed opened up her life with her family to television audiences on the reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels in 2006. She first captured the public's attention as Playboy's Miss November in 1981 and became the Playmate of the Year in 1982. Building on this success, Tweed began an acting career, landing a number of television and film roles.
Shannon Tweed made her feature film debut in 1982 with Hot Dog . . . The Movie. That same year, she played Diana Hunter on the prime time drama Falcon Crest and later appeared on the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. Tweed found steady work during the 1980s and 1990s acting in a series of B movies, including Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death (1989) and No Contest II (1998). In 2002, she played the mother of an aspiring musician in the short-lived series My Guide to Becoming a Rock Star.
For more than twenty years, Shannon Tweed had been in a relationship with rocker Gene Simmons - a "happily unmarried" couple as they have been quoted as saying. They have two children, Nick and Sophie. In 2006, the family stepped into the media spotlight with their own reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels. While some critics were not impressed, audiences have enjoyed this inside look of the domestic life of a rock icon and a beautiful actress as they raise their teenage children and handle their business affairs. Not the average family, the couple got facelifts at the same time, which was featured in the show's second season.
Along with being a mother and actress, Shannon Tweed has added writer to her list of accomplishments. In 2006, she shared her experiences in her autobiography, Kiss and Tell.
Tweed and Simmons were married on October 1, 2011 in Beverly Hills, California.
