A full Biography episode on the life of actor Sean Connery.
To many he is still the quintessential Bond... James Bond. Born in Edinburgh Scotland in 1930, Sean Connery's early working life hardly hinted at his future glamorous life as he took jobs ranging from milkman to lifeguard. His first taste of success came when he placed 3rd in the 1953 Mr. Universe contest. When another competitor suggested he try out for a part in the stage production of South Pacific, Connery found himself hooked on a new profession--acting. His role as James Bond was almost accidental; initially Carey Grant was asked to play the part but demanded too much money. Since landing his breakthrough role, the actor has gone on to leave an indelible mark on the film industry playing a wide range of no-nonsense tough guys. One of those roles, Jimmy Malone in The Untouchables, was recognized with an Oscar in 1987.
