Rosalind Russell was an American actress who became famous for portraying witty, independent and sharp-tongued women. Russell made her film debut in Evelyn Prentice in 1934. Her most well known performance was opposite Cary Grant in His Girl Friday, a 1940 film based on the play The Front Page.
