Richard Rodgers was an American composer who began his craft as a youth, composing songs for amateur boys' club shows. He was educated at Columbia and the Institute of Musical Art (now Julliard). He collaborated with the liberettists Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein on a number of hits including including "My Funny Valentine," "The Lady is a Tramp," and "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning."© 2012 A+E Networks.
