Sir Richard Burton was a British explorer and linguist. He demonstrated his talent for learning languages at an early age. By his death, was said to speak over 20 European, Asian and African languages. He traveled extensively, supposedly traveling in disguise to Mecca. Although much of his writing was considered to0 sexual to publish, he translated The Arabian NIghts and the Kama Sutra.
