American cosmologist Ralph Asher Alpher is best known for laying the foundations for the big-bang model of evolution.

Synopsis

American cosmologist Ralph Asher Alpher is now credited with laying the foundations for the big-bang model, a widely held theory of the evolution of the universe. His work was not recognized at the time astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson won the 1978 Nobel Prize for Physics for a discovery that supported the big-bang model of creation, but he was later recognized with numerous awards.
