American athlete Rafer Johnson completed his first decathlon in 1954 as a sophomore at the University of California Los Angeles but made his mark in athletics when he won a gold medal in the decathlon in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. He has appeared in several films, including the James Bond film License to Kill as a DEA agent.
