Potter Stewart was an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1958 - 1981. A graduate from Yale University and Yale Law School, he worked in private practice till he was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals at age 39. He was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958. He is best known for his contributions to criminal justice reform.
