Synopsis

Owen Chamberlain was born in San Francisco, California, on July 10, 1920. From 1942 to 1946, he worked on the Manhattan atomic bomb project and at the Argonne National Laboratory. Afterwards, he taught at the University of California in Berkley. He and his colleague Emilio Segrè received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1955 for their discovery of the antiproton. He died on February 28, 2006.

In 1959 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics jointly with his colleague Emilio Segr for their 1955 discovery of the antiproton.
