Oscar Charleston played in the Negro National League and later managed several teams. He’s considered one of the best players in the history of the league.

Synopsis

Oscar Charleston was born on October 14, 1896, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He left school to join the U.S. Army and played baseball for the first time while stationed in the Philippines. When he returned home, he signed with ABCs and played with them when they joined the Negro National League. After a strong career, he retired from playing in 1941 and managed several teams. He died on October 6, 1954.
