'American Idol'
Lynche began working as a personal trainer after his mother's death. Inspired by his brother Marque, Jr., who was a finalist on season three of American Idol, Lynche decided to audition for the ninth season of reality-singing competition in 2009. After he was nearly voted off the show on April 7, 2010, the judges used their only save of the season to preserve Lynche—making him only the second finalist to compete on the show to receive a save by the judges. He went on to place fourth in the competition, and Lee DeWyze was named season 9's winner.
