Megawati Sukarnoputri is the daughter of Sukarno, the first president of Indonesia and was herself the fifth president of Indonesia (2001–04).

Synopsis

Megawati Sukarnoputri is the daughter of Sukarno, first president of Indonesia. In 1987 she was elected to the national parliament, and became head of the PDI. President Suharto maneuvered to disqualify her from running for president in the 1996 and 1998 elections. Sukarnoputri became the fifth president of Indonesia in 2001 and faced a failing economy and terrorist attacks. She served until 2004.
