Her reporting has earned multiple awards, and - in a more unusual tribute - punk god Joey Ramone wrote a song about his crush on the journalist shortly before his death in 2001.
Bartiromo ran into a scandal in January 2007 when several unidentified Citigroup executives told the press that the firing of global investment head Todd S. Thomson was in part due to his decision to fly Bartiromo on his private jet so that she could speak to a group of Citigroup clients in Asia. The report raised accusations that Bartiromo's close relationships with her sources created conflicts of interest. Bartiromo and her bosses at CNBC did not agree, and she weathered the controversy without serious damage to her career.
After 20 years with CNBC, Bartiromo revealed that she was leaving the network in November 2013. No official announcement has been made regarding her next career move, but the Drudge Report indicated that the Fox Business Network.
In addition to her thriving television career, Bartiromo is also authored two books: Use the News: How to Separate the Noise from the Investment Nuggets and Make Money in Any Economy (2001) and The 10 Laws of Enduring Success (2010).
Bartiromo has been married to Jonathan Steinberg, the son of financier Saul Steinberg, since 1999. The couple currently resides in New York.
