Early Life
Athlete Kyle Busch was born on May 2, 1985, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Desperate to make a name other than "Kurt's little brother," teenager Kyle spurned his big brother's employer, Roush Racing, to drive for rival Hendrick Motorsports. In less than two years he has already become the youngest race winner in NASCAR's six-decade history of Cup racing, shortly after turning 20 years old.
Busch began racing at the age of 13, following in his brother's footsteps to race in the still-new everyman's racing circuit, the Legends Series. After 65 Legends wins, Busch moved up to NASCAR's late model series, winning ten races and signing on with Roush Racing.
NASCAR Career
Still just a junior in high school, Busch made his Truck Series debut with Roush in 2001, then shocked the NASCAR world by bolting for Hendrick.
Just as stunning was team owner Rick Hendrick's decision to put the teenager in the #5 Chevy, replacing NASCAR legend and two-time Cup champion Terry Labonte, and racing as a teammate to four-time champ Jeff Gordon.
Together with Brian Vickers, Busch represents the future of one of NASCAR's most powerful organizations, a role many believed he was too young to fulfill. Those critics were silenced when Busch won his first pole position in 2005's second race and earned his first victory during Labor Day weekend.
Personal Life
Busch weathers those pressures thanks to a strong family backing, a family that lives together north of Charlotte and travels together each weekend.
