Kip Keino was born January 17, 1940 in Nandi Hills, Kenya. At the 1968 Olympics, he competed in six distance races in eight days. In the 5,000-metre final he earned a silver medal. In the 1,500 meters he won the race by 20 meters. At the 1972 Games, he won a silver medal in the 1,500 meters and a gold medal in the 3,000-metre steeplechase.
