Dame Kathleen (Mary) Kenyon was born on January 5, 1906 in London, England She was an English archaeologist who excavated Jericho to its Stone Age foundation and showed it to be the oldest known continuously occupied human settlement. Her published books include Archaeology in the Holy Land. She died in 1978.
