Born in Brooklyn in 1977, Joey Fatone’s big break came at age 17, when he joined the all-male group 'N Sync with Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass. When they broke up, Fatone pursued an acting career, and performed in feature films as well as Broadway shows like Rent and Little Shop of Horrors. He also established himself as a television host,
and placed second in the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars. In 2012, he returned to the show as an all-star cast member, for season 15's Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars.
Born Joseph Anthony Fatone on January 28, 1977 in Brooklyn, New York, Joey Fatone is the youngest child of Phyllis and Joseph Anthony Fatone Sr. Fatone enjoyed performing at an early age. He made his acting debut at age 7, as an extra in Once Upon a Time in America, starring Robert Dinero. Despite that early opportunity, Fatone did little else as a child, and when he was 13, he moved with his family to Orlando, Florida.
After graduating from high school, Fatone got a job at Universal Studios, playing the Wolfman in the Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue. There, he became friends with Chris Kirkpatrick, who would recruit Fatone to join his newly formed all-male group: 'N Sync.
Fatone and Kirkpatrick were joined by Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass and J.C. Chavez, and 'N Sync released their first album in the United States in 1998, with "I Want You Back" as their debut single. The group released three more albums, including a Christmas album, and had four No. 1 hit singles before breaking up. Their third album, No Strings Attached, was the highest-selling album of 2000. The band went on their last tour in 2002.
Even as he was singing with 'N Sync, Fatone returned to acting. He had his first lead role in a feature film in 2001’s On the Line, and subsequently had parts in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and The Cooler. He also hit the Broadway stage, performing in the Tony Award-winning musical Rent as well as a revival of Little Shop of Horrors.
Fatone has established himself as an affable television personality. He hosted NBC’s karaoke game show, Singing Bee, and was the red carpet host for TV Guide’s award show coverage from 2007 to 2009. In 2011, he got a job as the host of My Family Recipe Rocks! on the Live Well Network.
In 2007, Fatone won second place on the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars. He returned to the show to compete on 2012’s Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars. Also in 2012, Fatone was celebrity contestant on Rachael vs. Guy Celebrity Cook-Off, where he was eliminated after six episodes.
Fatone married his high school sweetheart Kelly Baldwin in 2004, and has two daughters, Kloey and Briahna. He and his family established the Fatone Family Foundation, which supports children’s charities and established the My Healing Harmony program to bring music to children’s hospitals.
