Jenny Lind, known as the "Swedish Nightingale," was an opera singer who toured the world and created a operatic sensation. At the age of 18, she became the prima donna at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. Her concert tour of America beginning in 1850 shot her to international fame. In her later years, she became a philanthropist and taught singing at the Royal College of Music.
