Jeanne Bécu, countess du Barry was born on August 19, 1743, in Vaucouleurs, France. From 1743 to 1793, she was the King of France Louis XV’s mistress. She was married to Louis XV’s brother, Guillaume, for a short time before being installed at court in 1769. Bécu continued to assert her influence on Louis XV until he died and she left the court. In 1793, she was executed for treason in Paris, France.
