Jacques Chirac is a French politician who served as President of France from 1995-2007 and Mayor of Paris from 1977-1995. He also held several ministerial roles during his tenure. During his time as president, he oversaw the currency tradition from francs to euros, opposed any participation in the Iraq War, and signed a law prohibiting Muslim head scarves. In 2011, he was tried for fraud.
