Irene Dunne was an American film actress in the 1930s and 1940s, known for her leading roles as a gracious and well-bred woman. Dunne trained as a singer and moved to New York City hoping to make it as an opera star. She was rejected by the Met, and found herself touring with Show Boat by 1929. She became a popular screen actress with her roles in Cimarron and I Remember Mama.
