Henry IV, Holy Roman Emperor (b. 1050, d. 1106) was the King of Germany from 1056 and Holy Roman Emperor from 1084. He was forced to abdicate the crown in 1105 by his son, Henry V. He was one of the most leaders during the 11th century, due in great part to his conflict with the Roman Catholic Church regarding investitures, or the power and act of appointing popes and bishops.
