He has gone on to direct several critically acclaimed films, most notably 2002's A Beautiful Mind, for which he earned the Academy Award for Best Director, as well as Blockbuster hits Cinderella Man (2005), The Da Vinci Code (2006), and Frost/Nixon (2008).

Actor Robert MacNaughton is best known for his role as Elliot's brother Michael, in the Spielberg classic E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982). The role won him a 1982 Young Artists Award as Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.
