Silver Foxes
View groupHaving silver hair in Hollywood doesn't just equate to getting along in years and becoming omnipotently wise; rather, when you think of men like Andersoon Cooper, Sean Connery, and Richard Gere, as well as women like Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep—the words sexy, debonair, and sophisticated also come to mind. Oh, and did we mention sexy? Meet some of our favorite Silver Foxes...

The Da Vinci grind. Leonardo da Vinci, deemed one of the most renowned painters in history, was also an incredible engineer, scientist and inventor. Da Vinci was an "all around hand," and his work ethic and capacity for knowledge remain unmatched. His drawings featured ideas such as a spinning wheel and a flying machine, and he had a wide knowledge and understanding far beyond his times of most of the sciences, including biology, anatomy, physiology, hydrodynamics, mechanics and aeronautics. Our kind of Gal. Galileo Galilei (1564-1642), was an Italian physicist, mathematician and astronomer, who developed astronomical theories and invented several tools still used today, including the first thermometer and a pendulum clock. Additionally, Galileo improved on the telescope, first created by German inventor Hans Lipperhey. Above: From Spanish and American Illustration, engraved by Rico, 1884 (engraving, later colouration). Greeks bearing gifts. Greek philosopher Aristotle, together with Socrates and Plato, laid much of the groundwork for western philosophy. He was among the first, if not the first, to support the idea that technology imitates nature, and his theories of universals and logic have survived for thousands of years. Isaac of all trades. English scientist and mathematician Isaac Newton is most famous for his law of gravitation, and was instrumental in the scientific revolution of the 17th century. Truly mind over matter. German-born mathematician and physicist Albert Einstein developed the theory of relativity, among several other theories relating to matter and energy. Einstein, considered the most influential physicist of the 20th century, won the Nobel Prize for physics in 1921. Hawking for teacher.
