Ike and Tina Turner
As rock 'n' roll couples go, Ike and Tina Turner's relationship was one of the most volatile. Ike was a successful blues singer when he met Tina, who was a teenager trying to break into singing. Tina started singing for Ike's band, and in 1960 she had his baby. In 1962 the couple married. Even as Tina's career took off, and Ike produced her albums, the relationship was famously turbulent. Tina accused Ike of many instances of spousal abuse, and she even attempted suicide in 1968. In 1978, the couple finally divorced, and Tina launched a successful career comeback, on her own, in the 1980s.

An acronym was born the day actor Philip Michael Thomas (a.k.a. Detective Rico Tubbs of Miami Vice fame) announced his aspiration to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony within five years. But it was his gold EGOT medallion, which he had made as a reminder of his aims, that really solidified the term in Hollywood history. Sadly, Thomas still hasn't achieved his 1984 goal but, to be fair, only a small group of performers ever has. Here are the notable few who have made awards history.

America was introduced to the newest—and possibly the most dysfuctional—family to premiere on television with Arrested Development in 2003. The wealthy Bluths saw their lives come crashing down before them after the arrest of family patriarch George Bluth Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor). Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) is left to pick up the pieces and keep his family together, creating a hilarious dynamic between the ragtag cast, including Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, Michael Cera and Will Arnett. Several years after its 2006 cancelation, the series came back into the spotlight in 2013—due in no small part to its enormous, cult-like following.
