Synopsis

Gabriel Fauré was born on May 12, 1845, in Pamiers, France into a minor aristocratic family. At eight, he entered a Paris music school and studied there for 11 years. He served as an organist at the churches of Saint-Sulpice and the Madeline. He served as director of the Paris Conservatory from 1905 to 1920.
