Synopsis

Franz von Papen was born on October 29, 1879, in Werl, Germany. In 1932, he became Germany’s chancellor. Gen. Kurt von Schleicher forced him to resign and replaced him. Mad at Schleicher, Papen convinced Paul von Hindenburg to appoint Hitler chancellor. Papen worked for Hitler and was arrested by the Allies in 1945. He was imprisoned for being a Nazi, but was released in 1949 and fined.
