Profile

In 1941, Erwin Rommel was appointed commander of the German troops dispatched to aid the Italian army in Libya. Soon Hitler promoted him to field marshal. In 1944 he was entrusted with the defense of France's Channel coast. After the 1944 July Plot, Rommel's contact with the conspirator came to light. Hitler's generals brought Rommel poison, which he drank on October 14, thus ending his life.
