Native Lithuanian Emma Goldman was born June 27, 1869. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1885, where she worked in clothing factories. It was in that setting that she came in contact with anarchist beliefs. A fiery speaker, she was jailed for inciting riots and advocating birth control.
