Professional baseball player. Born Eddie Clarence Murray on February 24, 1956 in Los Angeles, California. As one of Major League Baseball?s most reliable hitters, Murray earned the nickname ?Steady Eddie,? which followed him throughout his 21-year career. Murray, Hank Aaron and Willie Mays are the only three players to have totaled 3,000 hits and 500 home runs. Murray holds the all-time career RBI among switch-hitters, has won the Golden Glove Award three times and is an eight-time All-Star. He played first base for 12 seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, helping the team capture the world championship in 1983. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.
