Born on September 16, 1949 in Los Angeles, California, Edward James Begley, Jr. joined an acting family. His father, Ed Begley, was an Academy Award-winning character actor. Upon his decision to follow his father into the business, Begley, Jr. first came to national prominence in the television series ??St. Elsewhere.?? For his role as Dr. Victor Ehrlich, Begley received six consecutive Emmy Award nominations.

Comfortable in films, television, and on the stage, Begley has found success in all three arenas. Among the many shows on which he has appeared are ??Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,?? ??7th Heaven,?? ??Arrested Development,?? ??Six Feet Under,?? ??Scrubs,?? ??Boston Legal,?? ??Star Trek: Voyager,?? and ??The West Wing.?? He appeared on the big screen in ??Best in Show,?? and ??A Mighty Wind,?? and provided the voice of Boba Fett for the radio adaptation of ??Return of the Jedi.?? Stage credits include his role in David Mamet??s ??Cryptogram?? in Boston, New York City, and Los Angeles. In 2000, Begley became a member of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In addition to his acting career, Ed Begley, Jr. is a passionate supporter of the environment. He and his wife, Rachelle Carson, live in a home powered solely by the Sun. He has been a vegan for many years and created Begley??s Best Household Cleaner. Often found on his bicycle or commuting by public transit, Begley stars, with his wife, on HGTV??s ??Living With Ed.??
