Profile
Actor, comedian. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 3, 1953. An Emmy award-winning comedian and actor, Miller didn't get his start in comedy until after his graduation from Pittsburgh's Point Park College. It was in 1984, while doing standup at a Los Angeles comedy club, that he was discovered by Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels.
In 1985, he rose to national fame as the show's new Weekend Update commentator. Miller's snide, deadpan bashing of political and showbiz celebrities earned him praise from both viewers and critics alike. His "I'm outta here!" catchphrase was an SNL staple for six seasons.
In 1994, he co-produced and starred in his own show, Dennis Miller Live, on HBO, for which he won two Emmys. In 2000, he moved to the sidelines to provide alternative play-by-play commentary for ABC's "Monday Night Football." After two years, and some harsh criticism, he was replaced by John Madden for the 2002 season.
Miller also launched a film career, and his appearances included Disclosure in 1994 and the Sandra Bullock thriller The Net in 1995. In 1996, he produced and starred in Tales From the Crypt Presents: Bordello of Blood. In 1997, he played a detective in Murder at 1600 and appeared as Buffalo Bill in Joe Dirt in 2001.
Miller married former model Ali Epsley in 1988. The couple has two children; Holden born in 1990 and Marlon born in 1993.
