Profile
Born in New York in 1962, David Foster Wallace wrote dazzling journalistic pieces, short stories and novels, becoming best known for his second novel, Infinite Jest (1996), a massive, multilayered novel. Critics found Wallace's dense writing style both exhilarating and maddening, and his Infinite Jest was compared to the novels of Thomas Pynchon and Don DeLillo. Wallace was found dead of an apparent suicide in September 2008.
