Writer Colum McCann was born on February 28, 1965, in Dublin, Ireland. Colum McCann is an award-winning author of literary fiction. His novels include This Side of Brightness, which he researched by living with the homeless in the subway tunnels of Manhattan, and Dancer, a fictional portrait of world-famous dancer Rudolf Nureyev, which received the Irish Novel of the Year Award in 2003.
Colum McCann teaches creative writing at Hunter College at the City University of New York. He is also a contributor to The New York Times , The New Yorker and GQ, among other publications. He lives in New York with his wife and children.
