Early Life

Murderer and welder Christian Brando was born on May 11, 1958, in Los Angeles, California. Brando was the eldest son of Hollywood legend Marlon Brando and Indian actress Anna Kashfi, whose real name was Joan O'Callaghan. His parents had a brief affair and wed five months before Christian was born, and divorced shortly after in 1959.

Christian Brando's mother abused drugs and alcohol while his father was a notorious womanizer; their relationship was increasingly hostile and abusive. Christian was raised by nannies and servants, dropped out of high school and by the age of 22 was living in a remote cabin in Washington purchased by his father where he practiced artistic welding.

Murder

As the eldest of Marlon Brando's 10 children, Christian developed a protective relationship with his younger siblings. This was particularly true with his half-sister Cheyenne, who led a sheltered life on the island of Tahiti but was plagued by bouts depression and schizophrenia, as well as alcoholism and drug addiction. When she became pregnant by her longtime boyfriend Dag Drollet, the son of a prominent Tahitian family, she and Drollet came to stay with Christian and Marlon at Brando's Hollywood home.

During their stay in May of 1990, Cheyenne told Christian that Drollet had been abusing her, which was a ploy for attention with little basis in truth. Christian, himself fueled by alcohol, then shot Drollet in a drunken rage, later claiming it was an accident. In January 1991, Christian Brando was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and received a 10-year sentence. He served his time at California Men's Colony at San Luis Obispo and was released in 1996.

Personal Life

Christian Brando was married to longtime friend Mary McKenna during the 1980s. He was married to artist Deborah Presley from 2004 to 2005, during which time he pleaded guilty to spousal abuse.

Christian Brando died from pneumonia at a Los Angeles hospital on January 26, 2008, at the age of 49.
