Synopsis

Born on September 21, 1965 to James and Rosemary Hines, Cheryl Hines grew up in Tallahassee, Florida, where she began acting as a high school student. After graduating from the University of Central Florida, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. Hines has acted in an array of films and television shows, and was nominated for two Emmy Awards—in 2003 and 2006—for her role on the popular HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm. She has played Cheryl David,

the wife of Larry David, on the show since 2000.

Early Years

Hines loved comedy at a young age, so she decided to study comedy writing and improvisation at The Groundlings School in Los Angeles, where such mainstream comedians as Phil Hartman, Kathy Griffin and Kristen Wiig also got their start. Hines attended the school with actress Lisa Kudrow.

Comedic Success and Recent Roles

Hines began acting in the 1990s, and started gaining serious traction soon after. She was nominated for two Emmy Awards—in 2003 and 2006—for her role on the popular HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm. Hines has played Cheryl David, the wife of Larry David, on the show since 2000.

After co-starring with Robin Williams in the 2006 movie RV, she landed a part in the 2008 poker mockumentary The Grand. She tried her hand at directing in 2009, with the film noir Serious Moonlight, starring Meg Ryan, which received mixed reviews. That same year, she began guest-starring on the show Brothers and Sisters, playing Kitty Walker. In 2010, Hines began working as executive producer for NBC's School Pride, a reality series that highlights public school renovations throughout the United States.

Hines reportedly began dating Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in 2010, not long after Kennedy filed for divorce from Mary Kennedy, in May 2010.
