Synopsis

Born on June 27, 1846, in County Wicklow, Ireland, Charles Stewart Parnell became a nationalist parliamentary leader with the Home Rule League, heading a prominent land rights group as well. Jailed for his call for rent boycotts, Parnell was released, though later facing false newspaper accusations regarding statements made about the Phoenix Park murders. He died in Brighton, England, on October 6, 1891.
