Born in 1775, Charles Lamb was an English essayist who wrote many children's versions of well-known works, including Tales from Shakespeare and The Adventures of Ulysses. After his sister Mary, in a fit of madness, killed their mother, Charles took care of her. Together the siblings produced Tales. Charles is best known for Essays of Elia, remarkable letters which he wrote for London Magazine.
