Profile
Actor, director. Born July 19, 1962 in New York City. The son of actors George C. Scott and Colleen Dewhurst, Scott was one of five siblings raised in Manhattan. He studied drama at Lawrence University in Wisconsin and then with Geraldine Page and Stella Adler. Throughout the 1990s, Scott starred in several movies on TV and in film, including 1992's Dying Young and Singles and 1994's Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle for which he won an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
Scott moved from acting to co-producing films in 1996, teaming up with Stanley Tucci for the comedy The Daytrippers and for the surprise hit Big Night, which won the directing duo a Best First Film award from the New York Film Critics Circle. Scott returned to acting the following year to star in David David Mamet's The Spanish Prisoner, followed by Lush and Other Voices in 2000.
In recent years, Scott has tried his hand at series television. He played a famous photographer in the short-lived drama Six Degrees, which ran from 2006 to 2007. In Royal Pains, Scott plays a wealthy, mysterious man living in the Hamptons for the summer. The show debuted in June 2009.
Scott and his wife, Anne, married in 1991; they have one son.
