Camille Corot was born to wealthy parents on July 16, 1796, in Paris. At the age of 25, his parents gave him an allowance to pursue painting. He became known for his landscapes and his style inspired Impressionism. Corot painted outside during the warm months and worked on large pieces indoors during the winter. His work was popular and he painted more than 3,000 pictures before his death in 1875.
