A fan of the romantic movement, Bram Stoker was a friend of Oscar Wilde. His dull life in civil service provided the inspiration necessary to produce such master works as the classic horror tale "Dracula."

Profile
Bram Stoker published his first book, The Duties of Clerks of Petty Sessions in Ireland, a handbook in legal administration, in 1879. Turning to fiction late in life, Stoker published his masterpiece, Dracula, in 1897. A hugely popular novel and lasting classic, Dracula enjoyed equal success in several versions as a play and as a film, but Stoker could never come close to equalling its success.© 2012 A+E Networks.
