Synopsis
Born in Chicago in 1929, Bob Newhart was an accountant who created monologues as a diversion, becoming famous with a best-selling recording of his first nightclub engagement, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart (1960). A dry-toned satirist, Bob Newhart starred in the television sitcoms The Bob Newhart Show (1971–1978), Newhart (1982–1990), and Bob (1992).
