Born in 1929, Bob Denard was a freelance soldier, a mercenary, who participated in approximately 20 coups or attempted coups in Angola, Benin, Congo, Gabon, Nigeria, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), and Zaire, as well as in Iran and Yemen.
