A very successful film on a relatively small scale, Flirting with Disaster was a hit with critics and financially successful. Stiller's next project was to direct the offbeat comedy Cable Guy,
which starred Jim Carrey and Matthew Broderick. He followed Cable Guy with a starring role opposite Cameron Diaz and Matt Dillon in the extremely successful gross-out comedy There's Something about Mary (1998). The following year, Stiller cowrote the mock self-help book, Feel This Book: An Essential Guide to Self-Empowerment, Spiritual Supremacy, and Sexual Satisfaction, with Garofalo.
In 2000, Stiller appeared with Jenna Elfman and Edward Norton in Keeping the Faith and teamed with Hollywood veterans Robert De Niro and Blythe Danner for the sidesplitting comedy Meet the Parents. His most recent effort, Zoolander (2001), was a satirical look at the fashion industry. Stiller's upcoming projects include Duplex (2002) and a sequel to Meet the Parents titled Meet the Fockers (2003). In 2004, he teamed with Owen Wilson for an update of the classic TV action comedy Starsky & Hutch and Vince Vaughn for the comic spoof Dodgeball.
In May 2000, Stiller married the actress Christine Taylor, who became known for her role as Marcia Brady in The Brady Bunch Movie and costarred in Zoolander.
