Bear Bryant played football at the University of Alabama. After serving in World War II, he became head coach at the University of Maryland and Texas A&M before settling in at his alma mater. During his 25 years at University of Alabama, Bryant coached the team to a record-setting 323 wins. He also recruited the first black player and coached future pros George Blanda and Joe Namath.
