For Bea Arthur, it all changed when she was offered a job on the show All In The Family. The show began her career as a woman not afraid to talk about controversial issues such as abortion.
When Bea Arthur was young she began acting on stage. Audiences loved her, and she quickly found herself infected with love for comedy and the stage. Arthur is best known, however, as a star in two hit shows, The Golden Girls and Maude.

Arthur was married twice and had two sons with second husband Gene Saks. The couple was married in 1950 and divorced in 1978. Arthur died at her home in Los Angeles April 25, 2009, of cancer. She was 86.
