August Ferdinand Möbius
German mathematician August Ferdinand Möbius was born on November 17, 1790. While teaching at the University of Leipzig, he introduced homogeneous coordinates into analytic geometry and dealt with geometric transformations, in particular projective transformations. He is known for the famous Möbius strip and other innovations in Euclidean geometry and number theory.
